Dear Parent/Guardian:
Welcome to the HS for Media and Communications. My name is Dersa Gonzalez, Parent Coordinator of the school, and I work as a facilitator between parents and staff members to create an environment that will foster academic success for your child.
This is an exciting time for our school where efforts have been made to change and improve methods of teaching and learning in our classrooms. Educating our children is an effort in which we all have to be involved, which includes a collaborative team effort by the teachers, the community, and the parents. When parents get involved in their children’s education, it’s more likely that students will have better academic success and will achieve their academic goals.
My goal is to create a welcoming environment in the school community, helping you as parents find solutions to any situation related to your child’s education, by disseminating information, help organize activities and events, and assisting the school in any way possible in order to achieve high academic success for all our children.
I am here to help you with any concerns and needs you may have pertaining to your child’s education and will provide you with valuable books, brochures, and resources that will be beneficial both to you and your child. Your son/daughter will be entering high school and will have to take a minimum of 5 Regents examinations in order to obtain a high school diploma. The following links will provide additional support in preparing your child to obtain a higher regents score. Please visit Ed Solution and/or Regents Prep. To view important student and school information such as attendance records, class schedule, assignment due dates and grades, graduation eligibility, and more please visit Pupil Path Please contact me or the school to get your registration code.
Monthly letters will be mailed to your home to keep you informed of all the activities and events that are happening in the school. To be a part of your child’s education, I encourage you to get involved in the Parent Association meetings, which are held on the first Monday of every month, and I look forward to our future conversations. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at (212) 927-1841, ext. 1171 Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., or see me in room 121. If you want to be notified when your child enters our school building, please fill out this survey by clicking on this link.
Sincerely,
Dersa Gonzalez, Parent Coordinator

As of July 1st 2022, the New York City Department of Education will not be using PupilPath. The new tool will be rolled out soon. Please continue to visit the site for more information.
Did you know that you can track your child’s education on any computer, phone, or tablet? You can do that and more by opening your NYC Schools Account (NYCSA):
Go to Create New Account.
Enter your name, phone, email address, and create a password.
Then, verify your identity and your relationship to that student by contacting the parent coordinator. Once you verify your identity, you will be able to see additional information, such as your child’s grades, test scores, and attendance.
